Preliminary Contact Meeting with Smallholder Farmers Marks the Beginning of the Inga Alley Cropping Project in Melong

Impact Circle for Nature (ICFN) has taken an important step towards the implementation of the Inga Alley Cropping Project in Melong, Mungo Division, Cameroon, through a preliminary contact meeting with smallholder farmers.

The meeting served as an introduction to the project and created a platform for dialogue with women leaders and members of the community. Discussions focused on the agricultural and environmental challenges affecting farmers in the area, including declining soil fertility, poor crop yields, unsustainable slash-and-burn farming methods, and excessive reliance on chemical fertilizers.

The Inga Alley Cropping System presents a practical agroforestry solution that combines tree planting with food production, helping to restore degraded soils, improve crop productivity, conserve biodiversity, and strengthen communities’ resilience to climate change.

Recognising the vital contribution of women to agriculture and family nutrition, ICFN considers their active participation a key element for the successful adoption and sustainability of the project.

The Inga Alley Cropping Project in Melong is implemented by Impact Circle for Nature (ICFN) with support from Rainforest Saver. Through this partnership, we aim to promote regenerative agriculture, enhance food security, and contribute to the protection of Cameroon’s natural environment.

This meeting marks the first of several community engagement activities that will lead to the establishment of Inga nurseries, demonstration plots, and farmer training sessions in the months ahead.

🌱 Launch of the Inga Alley Cropping Nursery Project in Melong

ICFN has officially launched its Inga Alley Cropping Nursery Project in Melong with support from Rainforest Saver. The initiative will promote sustainable farming, restore soil fertility, reduce slash-and-burn agriculture, and strengthen climate resilience among local farming communities.

🌿 Advancing Regenerative Farming in Cameroon

This milestone strengthens our work in sustainable agriculture, forest restoration, and climate resilience, and prepares us to launch pilot Inga farming projects in Babubock Village and Bangem Town.

Together with our partners, we are helping communities grow food, restore soils, and protect the rainforest.
